Use as a filming location and Depictions in media

[edit]

Not only was the Queen Mary used the in film Poseidon Adventure, but the novel the film is based on was inspired by a voyage the author took on the ship in 1937 that encountered heavy seas. Other films & TV shows have used the film as a location. The ballroom is constantly showing up as setting for period pieces set in the 30s thru the 60s that need an art deco location. The pilot episode of 'Arrested Development' also used it.

The ship as itself has shown up in many films, like Dial M For Murder (1954). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:8000:7800:9F15:3C31:822D:85D0:E82E (talk) 20:15, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Operators of the ship have declared bankruptcy

[edit]

The operator of the Queen Mary have declared chapter 11 bankruptcy, I feel like this should be mentioned in the article however I wouldn't be able to myself. https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2021-01-20/queen-mary-bankruptcy-hotels-eagle-hospitality-trust 87.75.84.128 (talk) 16:16, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Names

[edit]

The reason for misunderstanding what the provided souces say is unclear. One very obviously says "The Queen Mary". The other very clearly says the historical names (plural) are "RMS Queen Mary" and "HMT Queen Mary". While I can understand the argument against the "HMT" designation being mentioned in the lede, as the ship held it for only a few years, the repreated attempts to claim in this article that the aforementioned sources support something they obviously don't are as baffling as the "justifications" for them, "repetition" (no), "the ship only had one name" (not quite), and "only one person is adding this" (so what?).
